Hawaii is well known for its beauty but what is the best island to visit and why?
Kauai is the garden island with a very laid back theme, amazing local organic food, Waimea Canyon, and the beautiful Kalalau trail. Kauai
Maui has many resorts and famous La’haina and Molokini Crater. It has fewer people than Oahu but still touristy with the Road to Hana and Haleakala. Maui Vacation Guide
Big Island is by far the biggest island with the best snorkeling and diving (in my opinion), Volcano National park, and black sand beaches. Island of Hawaii
Oahu has famous Waikiki Beach and North Shore where surfers gather for competitions. It is the most populated island with over a million people. It has the majority of the concerts and shows and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Oahu
Molokai is a get-away-from-it-all island with the Kalaupapa peninsula. The island would be great for beach activities like sitting in a hammock on the beach and snorkeling. I hear that the people are very friendly and life moves more slowly. Moloka’i: Home
Lanai is similar to Molokai, but much more arid and with less vegetation. It has great diving that you can access from the island or Maui. There are many resorts and golf courses here. Exploring Lanai, Hawaii, Rough Roads to Resorts
Kaho’olawe was used as a bomb testing area in WWII and is off-limits to most humans. I have heard from scientists who have been there that the former aquifers can no longer be used, so the whole island is basically a red desert – very different from the lush jungles of other isles. https://evols.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/bitstream/10524/446/1/JL06077.pdf
Ni’ihau is the forbidden island north of Kaua’i. You can rent a dive charter and see the water, but you need an invitation to visit the land.
